The Civil Servants Joint Stock Fund (MTPY) was founded on 12 October 1867 on the initiative of the then President of the Court of Audit, Dimitrios N. Levidis.

Since 1930, the Civil Service Share Fund has been housed in the mansion at 12 Kykourgou St and 56 Athinas St designed by the great architect and talented designer Vasileios Kouremenos, who built many of the finest buildings in Athens at that time.

The MTPY is a decentralised public service and operates as a Special State Fund, in which all Greek civil servants hold obligatory shares. It has financially autonomy and does not burden the state budget but relies on its shareholders’ deposits and its own resources.

The purpose of the fund is to pay a dividend to its shareholders and their families, relative to the size of their deposits, in a manner which is fair and ensures its long-term viability.
