Terms of Use for ΕLTA PostBox

The Hellenic Post Branches deliver special management items according to the procedures detailed in the Post Project Execution Guide of the Retail Network Units.

The Sender is responsible for the safe and long-lasting packaging of the items, depending on their content. Suppose the content of the items suffers damage during their transportation and management due to their unsafe and inappropriate packaging. In that case, the Company is released from any obligation to restore this damage. Moreover, the Sender guarantees that the item being sent has been packaged in such a way as to allow for its safe processing.

The Hellenic Post retains the right not to deliver an item using PostBox, at their absolute discretion, including, without limitation, cases where the item does not have the proper packaging or its packaging has suffered damage. The customer will be informed that the item does not fulfill the delivery conditions through a PostBox on the mobile phone number that has been declared. The item will be delivered using a Postal Box at a Hellenic Post Branch, which will be indicated to the customer.

By selecting the option of item delivery to a PostBox for the service, the customer consents that a signature will not be considered or required as proof of delivery without prejudice to any other term of these Terms of Use. Entering the access password will be taken as proof of delivery.

This service is also addressed to e-shoppers and refers to delivering parcels/items as an alternative delivery method to the Hellenic Post’s primary mail and parcel services.

Adding this new delivery method aims to facilitate the customers and users of e-commerce.

Items can be delivered using the Hellenic Post’s PostBox beyond the standard working hours of the Hellenic Post’s Branches, such as on Sundays, holidays, and on a 24-hour basis. Particularly for the PostBoxes at STASY stations (Metro / ISAP), the following delivery working hours apply:

Attiki, Monastiraki, Kallithea Stations: Daily 05:00 a.m. - 00:30 p.m.,

Omonoia Station: Monday - Thursday and Sunday, 04.40 a.m. - 01.00 p.m.; Friday - Saturday, 04.40 a.m. - 01.30 p.m.

The services provided through Hellenic Post's PostBox are subject to specific standards and requirements, which vary depending on the location. These specifications include rules about the type, size, weight, and number of posts that each PostBox can service.

The Hellenic Post may provide this new delivery method for better public service, depending on the availability at the PostBox locations, for specific services/services selected by the Hellenic Post, or in case it is explicitly mentioned in a particular contract.

GENERAL TERMS

  • The user of ELTA S.A.’s services acknowledges and allows ELTA S.A. to use its mobile phone number to receive information about the post item's delivery and be informed of its progress.
  • The post delivery to the User-Recipient is confirmed not using a signature during the delivery but using a security code (PIN) to be sent to their mobile phone number. The PIN code stands for the signature by the recipient of the post as well as for the receipt of the post item delivery. The PIN will only be made known to the Recipient.
  • The Recipient is responsible for not disclosing the PIN and the post number to third parties; if a third party uses them, the Recipient accepts that this is done on their behalf.
  • The Key for the User—the recipient’s identification is always the same, and only its mobile phone number (in combination with the PIN) must be correct to ensure the correct item delivery. The Sender is responsible for adequately transferring these data to ELTA S.A.
  • Due to its nature (times availability), the service does not refer to emergency posts with sensitive and/or fragile products.
  • The time of delivery to the location of the Hellenic Post’s PostBox is expected to comply with the times foreseen, which may be longer depending on the availability of the postal boxes at the specific location when the delivery takes place in automated delivery machines (Hellenic Post’s PostBox).
  • After arriving at the Hellenic Post’s PostBox locations, the items remain there for 48 hours. After this deadline, the item will be forwarded to the nearest Hellenic Post Branch of ELTA S.A. The Recipient will be informed by ELTA S.A. using messages (SMS / Viber) so that the item can be released from the Hellenic Post’s PostBox and that it can be made available at the Hellenic Post Branch, where the item will remain (for collection by the Recipient) for another 7 to 20 days, depending on the times foreseen according to the service used to send it.
  • The maximum permissible dimensions for the items to be delivered will be Length 620mm x Width 360mm x Height 600mm and weight up to 20 kg. ELTA S.A. will monitor the post items throughout all the handling stages (Track and Trace).
  • Any technical problem occurring outside the working hours of ELTA S.A. at the Hellenic Post's PostBox locations may modify the delivery time of the post items to be delivered at these locations. In any case, the Recipient is informed using SMS / Viber of the times and days of delivery using PostBox.
2. POST ITEM DELIVERY
2.1. POST ITEMS FROM E-SHOP

A condition for delivery—collection by the Hellenic Post’s PostBox is that the Sender has prepared the documentation/vouchers using one of ELTA S.A.'s available computerized applications (SYDELTA HERMES) and has accepted the terms of the selected service.

The post-item delivery service at a location of a Hellenic Post’s PostBox includes the following steps:
  • The owner of an e-shop that offers this option may, during the preparation of the items through the “HERMES” system, declare the post item delivery to a Hellenic Post's PostBox.
  • After delivering the post item to a location of a Hellenic Post's PostBox, ELTA S.A. automatically forwards to the recipient the relevant electronic notification (SMS / Viber) with the post item number, the unique PIN security code, the geographical position of the delivery location, as well as the time during which the item remains at this location.
  • The Recipient visits the location of the Hellenic Post’s PostBox and collects the post item by using the PIN.
The customer sender is responsible for the following:
  • This new service will exclude those products whose type, dimensions, and weight, after packaging, do not comply with the type, size, and weight restrictions mentioned on the List of Forbidden Items.
  • Informing the customer-recipient of the terms of use for the service.

The customer-sender explicitly accepts the terms and conditions of use for the Hellenic Post’s PostBox, as these are described in this document for the time during which the post item will remain at the location of the Hellenic Post’s PostBox.

The customer-recipient, during the procedure of entering the electronic order and before its completion, will have to be fully informed by the e-shop of the terms of use for the service, as well as of the additional charge for the service (if applicable) and for the time during which the post item will remain at the location of the Hellenic Post’s PostBox.

The customer-recipient explicitly accepts the terms and conditions of use for the Hellenic Post’s PostBox, as described in this document. To complete their order in this way, the customer-recipient will have to accept and allow ELTA S.A. to use their mobile phone number to receive the security codes referring to the delivery of the post item and to be informed of the post item progress.

Suppose a post item exceeds the permissible weight and dimensions limit. In that case, it will be transported to a Hellenic Post Branch to be delivered, and the recipient will be informed accordingly using a message (SMS / Viber).

2.2. GENERAL POST ITEMS & DELIVERIES (PRIVATE PARTIES)

The Sender guarantees that: a) in terms of the post item to be processed, the sender's and recipient's necessary information is correctly written on the post item, b) the post item has been appropriately packaged to ensure its safe transportation, c) the Sender will pay in advance all the charges for the transportation of the post items, which refer to the services provided, d) the post item meets the terms and conditions mentioned in this document.

The delivery using the Hellenic Post’s PostBox does not entail additional charges for the sender and the recipient.

ELTA S.A. cannot be aware of the content of the post items; the Sender must check that the post item meets these terms and conditions of transportation and is fully responsible for exceeding any of these limits in any case of loss or damage of the post item. ELTA S.A. has the right, but not the obligation, to check the content of the post item that it undertakes to process, as well as not to collect the post item to be processed if the Sender refuses to allow the inspection of the content by an ELTA S.A. representative.

ELTA S.A. also has the right, either during the delivery or at any given time after the delivery, not to proceed to the processing of the post item if there are indications of forbidden content or insufficient data for the recipient, no customs declaration has been submitted when this is required by the applicable customs regulations, and/or the post item is not accompanied by the legitimate tax certificates prescribed by law.

3. ELTA S.A.’S RESPONSIBILITY – COMPENSATION
As regards the payment of compensation for the inadequate provision of mail and parcel services by the Hellenic Post to the user, the terms contained in the applicable provisions of Hellenic Post apply (as also mentioned in the Consumer's Obligations Map (HYK).

The user unreservedly accepts the following:
  • The specified compensation amounts apply, as mentioned in the Consumer’s Obligations Map and the applicable Hellenic Post’s pricelist for the Hellenic Post’s mail and parcel services.
  • Once the PΙΝ is used to open the PostBox, ELTA S.A. bears no further or other responsibility for any loss or damage regardless of its origin (including, indicatively, any incidental or consequential damage, loss of profit, non-material damage, etc.).
For the rest, the provisions in the terms of use for the Hellenic Post’s mail and parcel services and the requirements in the Regulations for Handling Post Items apply.
